Lady GaGa Inspired Look

SO! My idol Lady GaGa has become my new HERO! I swear! i love her music, her individuality her style and shes GORGEOUS! This morning i had no idea what i was gonna do with my make up. I know i wanted something smokey and dark but i didnt want to do classic smokey eye or a bright color with black, i wanted something different. so who do i look to for inspiration?! LADY GAGA! i googled..... and came across this picture with the fabulous Cindy Lauper! ya know? Girls just wanna have fun"? "She-Bop"? "The Goonies"?!......... Am i OLD?!?!? lol anyways. These amazing women are part of MAC VIVA GLAM Spring Campaign 2010!! So yes this is why Lady GaGa is my new hero. I was so excited! haha i think im super behind on this news but i was happy non the less. I Loved the make up on both of them but of course Lady GaGa spoke louder to me. It took me awhile to get it where i wanted it but here it is!! I didnt take pics of the products but ill just list them.

1) NYX Jumbo Pencil in Gold as a base

2) MAC Pigment in Mega Rich on the lid

3) MAC eyeshadow in Brown Script above the crease

4) MAC Pigment in Old Gold on the center of the lid

5) Ardell Defining Powder in Mink in the crease

6) MAC Pigment in Rose Gold in the tear duct

7) MAC eyeshadow in Carbon in the crease for depth

8) NYX eyeshadow in Barely There as a highlight

Cheeks:

NYX Blush in Dolly

MAC Soft n Gentle Mineralized Skinfinish as a highlight

Lips:

NYX Lipliner in Rose

MAC Lipstick in Up The Amp

Loreal HIP Jelly Balm in Plush

Smokey Red

So the other day while i was using the 88 palette, i noticed an awesome matte red eyeshadow. I told my self, "self we must use this eyeshadow next" so here we are! I know the red and black has been done, and redone and even done over, but here is MINE! No im not going to call it my "goth look" or "punk rock madness" look. haha i dont understand why people say that about red and black combination, do you call pink and black your "goth look" no its your "sexy V Day look" boggles the mind.

First, as always i primed my eye with Painterly Paint Pot from MAC. Then with an EcoTools brush (i got mine from Walgreens) I tapped on the bright red cream color from my Ben Nye Master Bruise Wheel as base for the red eyeshadow. This worked AMAZINGLY!! I placed that up to my crease and blended the harsh line with my finger.

With the 88 Palette (I FORGOT TO MARK IT SOMEHOW BEFORE I UPLOADED!!) its the bottom row, third from the right eyeshadow. I used my Sonia Kashuk small eyeshadow brush packed in the color and placed it on my lid up to the crease and blended.

With the same brush i went in with the Danger Zone Trio from MAC. It is limited edition from the Red She Said Collection, but you can use Coppering eyeshadow also from MAC or NYX Rust. It wont look exactly the same but it will give the same effect. Or you can use any other shimmery red eyeshadow you may have. I packed the color on my brush and placed it over the matte red eyeshadow, I know it may seem like "why did i just use the matte red eyeshadow then?" but the Danger Zone red with my skin tone has somewhat of an orange/red tone and i wanted RED! so that why i did the first step.

In the tear duct area with a small crease brush i used Platinum Pigment from MAC. You just need a TINY bit, its so pigmented and frosty you wont need much on your brush. Its like wearing foil paper on your eyes! After i placed the pigment i went back in with the Sonia Kashuk brush and blended it in with the red eyeshadow.

For my crease i used Carbon from MAC. I first used a sephora blending eye brush just so i could get further into the tear duct with more precision.

Then with a Sonia Kashuk crease brush i went ahead and built up the color and blended up the eyeshadow and deepend the black eyeshadow in my crease.

With the same brush i went in the Ardell's Brow Defining Powder in Mink. Yes its for my brows but its a beautiful brown and i wanted a darker brown to help blend the black without having turn into that smudgy grey color. So i placed the brown right on and above Carbon and with circle motions i blended upward.

With my trusty Face Secrets Eyeshadow Blender brush, i used Shroom from MAC as a highlight. Pack the color on the brush, Shroom isnt particularly very pigmented so when i say pack i mean PACK! Place the shadow on your brow bone and blend down into the brown shadow. You might have to go back in the some brown because you will lose color.

Because my eyeshadow was already red i chose to go with a more neutral blush and highlight. So for my blush i used All's Good from MAC limited edition with the Warm and Cozy Collection. You can still buy it though! and for highlight also from the Warm and Cozy Collection is Comfort Mineralized Skinfinish. These compliment each other really well!! I LOVE the Combo.

On my lips im wearing Plum Dandy lipstick from MAC and over that i used Hard Candy Plumping Gloss in Girl Next Door.

Not Really For Valentines Day But..........

Yay!! FINALLY some make up pictures!! Although i do feel like im talking to myself.... i know someday ill have some followers. LOL. For this "look" i dont know what else to call it. I used mainly an 88 palette i bought on ebay. Its the EXACT same thing as the Coastal Scents Palette if you have/use that one. Except i didnt pay their ridiculous shipping fees. I paid 99 CENTS for the palette and $11.99 for shipping, so about $13.00. Pretty good yeah? i thought so. I did use some MAC products as well. I didnt, not because i didnt want to but because i didnt think about taking pictures of the brushes i used, but future posts will have pictures of the product and brush used.

I started out priming my eyelid with Painterly Paint Pot from MAC from brow bone to lash line. After that i used this Bed Head by TIGI lipstick/lipliner in the color Perfect Pink. Yes i know its for the lips but it has a great texture for a base! So i put that on my lid up to the crease and blended it with my finger.

With a fluffly angled shadow brush (i used an essence of beauty angled brush.) I lightly brushed on Blanc Type from MAC into my crease and up the brow bone. NOT into the pink liner. This is just to help the strong eyeshadow colors blend easier into each other. I need to get something closer to my skin tone but for now this is what i use and it works awesome.

Now with the palette i numbered them in the order used, i thought it would be the easiest way to explain.
1) With a stiff brush (i used sonia kashuk small eyeshadow brush) pack the color into the brush and tap it in the inner corner of the eye.
2) With the same brush tap this eyeshadow on the remaining part of the eye, continue until you get the vibrancy you want.
3) With a fluffy brush (i used a sephora blending eye brush) add this eyeshadow to the outer "C" area and above the crease. use circle motions to help blend out the eyeshadow. This eyeshadow to me was a lil blotchy when applying so be patient and keep adding color SLOWLY! add a lil eyeshadow and blend add a lil more and blend. PATIENCE GRASSHOPPER!BLENDING IS KEY!
4) With a crease brush (i used essence of beauty crease duo brush the larger of the two) you can use a pencil brush as well, i think they are basically the same. Pick up some color and with the same circle motions use this shadow in the crease only. blend up with "shadow3". To help blend the two together pick up a tiny bit of both shadows on the same brush and blend where they meet.

With the same crease brush i used Beauty Marked from MAC to deepen the crease, the dark purple eyeshadow wasnt enough for me i wanted it to be just a lil darker. i didnt want to use just a black eyeshadow because i felt that would be too much for the look. This worked out better.

For the highlight i used two eyeshadows. Nylon from MAC and Creamy from NYX. With a big stiff brush (i used Face Secrets eyeshadow blender brush) i picked up some Nylon and tapped it ONLY under the arch of my brow, then went over it with Creamy and blended into the eyeshadow. This gives the NYX shadow a really nice effect because Nylon is such a frosty color and Creamy is a great highlight but doesnt really give off the "BAM" factor lol. i had to go back in the "shadow3" and blend with Creamy. I used the sephora blending eye brush for this.

Then with a small stiff brush (i used sephrora smudger eye brush) i packed Motif from MAC in the tear duct area blending it with "shadow1" just for a lil "pop" of something.

For my cheeks i used Eversun beauty powder from MAC its limited edition i bought this when it was out with the Style Warrior collection. For highlight i used By Candlelight mineralized skinfinish from MAC also limited edition from the Warm and Cozy collection. Although you can still purchase it!!

Lips, I used NYX lipliner in Natural. Lipstick in Warm Me Up from MAC limited edition Warm and Cozy collection.

TADA! Finished Product! This was fun!! MORE TO COME!!

Is this thing on?

Well thats an awesome way to start a blog. Post the first one and not again for 3 days! I didnt mean for it to happen that way i did want to post more, but my make up has been somewhat uneventful seeing that im not "allowed" to buy any until Feb. Which i did think about BEFORE i started the blog but i was way to excited and couldnt wait until then. BUT today i was pretty excited, i was going to redo all the labels on my MAC eyeshadows and have them look all nice and neat the way i would like them to. I kinda have an OCD about the way i like things to be organized and stored. So anywho...... my husband and i went to the store get to get some ink. After arguing in the printer aisle about which ink is the right one, we get home and im like "oh yeah gonna print my labels!!!" i bought the "avery self adehesive circle stickers" and you can go online and it gives you a template to use to print on them. There i am ungluing my current labels and getting everything ready when my wonderful husband comes into the room and says "the needle........blah blah blah blah blah" literally thats what i heard! so basically the printer doesnt work! Now my finger tips hurt from handling the lil eyeshadow pots, im high from the alcohol fumes and my eyeshadows arent done! LOL i sound hysterical. its my hormones i promise you. Now im sad cause i cant post pictures like i wanted to of my labels. which is ok no big deal. They will be up soon. OH! I also painted the tips of my make up brushes last night! Im getting more lil make up jobs here and there which is AMAZING! im really excited about that! I plan to order some business cards soon. I never really thought about painting the tips of my brushes because im the only one in the house the uses them! So i did my research (youtube of course) on why people paint their brushes. They had valid points! 1) you could be doing a make up job with other MUAs and you dont want to mix up or misplace your brushes. 2) you just want to know that those are YOUR brushes! with out any doubt! Thats why i did it to be honest. Im not gonna lose a potential future client because i want to claim a brush that could or could not be mine. Understand what i mean? This is the end of my short blog tonight. Tomorrow i will post pics of something! Be it my make up for the day or my painted make up brushes! If ANYONE is reading this please let me know if theres anything you would like to see me post! Oh lord i cant wait til Feb. i dont think my blog will make it...........

"Is Everybody In? The Ceremony Is About To Begin"...

My very first blog entry! I didnt think i would be this excited! Yet here i am, no one will rain on my parade. Not today Johnny RainCloud. To begin i should introduce myself right? My name is Rachel, wife and soon to be mother of 2. I am 7 months pregnant with a girl! yay! BUT thats not why we are here! This blog my friends will be about my passion, love, and daily struggle with a make up addiction. No joke. I love it so much i just want to talk about it all the time! Like when MAC comes out with a new collection i swear i break out in hives until i have what i want from the collection and then after that, i think about a new collection they have coming and now i have to wait until that one comes out and the hives start all over again. See what i mean?! Its a vicious circle. So i would like you to join me on this bandwagon if you have the same symptoms i do. Ill most likely post pics of myself describing the make up im wearing, cause i seem to like taking pictures of myself. haha but dont we all? i wont only talk about make up although 90% will be. i will not lie to you. ill post about skin care, hair care, etc. Anything that beautifiez you! Im going to apologize in advance though im not gonna post about any *NEW* make up until FEB 11 to be precise. im holding out on myself to save up for the MAC SpringColour Forecast collection. If you dont know this collection, it is 4 collections in 1! why would MAC be so cruel?! i dont know! Its madness.

Theres the Forecast1 which is PINKS, then ForeCast2 which is CORAL i believe, then ForeCast3 PURPLE or PLUM and ForeCast4 which i think is GOLD. Two of these lil collections come with quads, ($36 USD) and yes i want them both. The other 2 come with 4 eyeshadows (14.50 USD) but I dont want all of those lol. Each of them come with a new "Blush Ombre" ($25 USD) and yes i want ALL of those. So you can see why im penny pinching for this one. After that my husband will probably ban me from stepping foot into a MAC store! So until then i will be posting things like"top 10 fav eyeshadows" or blush, i LOVE blush! random things of that nature. Now im off to bed! ill probably lay there thinking about what to post tomorrow. Hooray for a new addiction! BLOGGING!
